Please join us for the Inaugural “Running for U – UCPS 5K Run/Walk for Union County Teachers” in Historic Downtown Monroe on June 1, 2013. All proceeds go to UCPS teachers through classroom mini-grants. For more information and to register visit here.

UCPS honors 31 National Board Certified teachers
Union County Public School Superintendent Dr. Mary Ellis presents Donna Nunn, a teacher at Weddington High School, with her National Board plaque during Thursday's celebration. The plaque will be posted beside the door of her classroom. She was one of nine newly certified UCPS teachers honored recently for their hard work. There were a total of 31 teachers recognized, as 22 others had successfully renewed their national certification. There are a total of 357 UCPS teachers who have attained their National Board certification.

Mentors Are Making a Big Difference in UCPS
UCPS Mentors are as excited as ever about providing support to Beginning Teachers. During two days of Mentor Training on the New NC Mentor Standards, 120 mentors completed reflection activities, provided feedback on the needs of beginning teachers and mentors, and discussed what the new mentor standards mean in practical terms.
